Ess gets operation date

Jude's mum, Ess, is due to go into hospital on the 17th December and have her operation on 18th December. Jude's sister Annette is flying out to Perth from Scotland on Wednesday 29th November for about 10 days. Jude's brother Wayne will drive down from Dampier on the 16th December and will stay until after the operation and he is sure that both Ess and Ray are okay. Jude will be with them all in thought and spirit. Please continue to keep Ess and Ray in your prayers.

Latest update on Jude's mum.....

Further to last months blog, Ess has been to Sir Charles Gairdner hospital for a number of tests - the result show that her aorta is very enlarged, the valve is leaking and one of her arteries is blocked. The surgeon has agreed to operate but no date has been set yet. It does appear however that it is likely to be done before Christmas. Although very tired and not able to do much, Ess is very positive in her attitude and wants to have the operation. Please continue to uphold both her and Ray (dad) in your thoughts and prayers.

Our 5th November family celebrations

Fire fire everywhere........

Sat 4th November I had to work 10pm to 6am - not knowing how difficult it would be to get into work in Lewes due to their mammoth bonfire celebrations, I left home early at 9pm. However the traffic was kept to a minimum and I had no difficulty getting into Police HQ - but if the size of the crowds I saw was anything to go by I was going to be in for a very long and busy night at work. I was in the middle of taking a call from an officer when the main firework display near HQ began and it was deafening to say the least! We all imagined this is what it must sound like in a war zone. At 2350hrs I took a call from a member of the public who had his car damaged by a stray firework - I took his details and told him I would ring him back in 10 minutes after completing the report - unfortunately it was to be another hour before that happened. "Fire, theres a fire downstairs!" called out our supervisor and then the fire alarms sounded - so we all up sticks and left the building to stand outside in the carpark in the freezing cold. Within minutes the fire brigade turned up with lights flashing and sirens blairing - not one tender but two!! Whooppee, look at those firemen! Then about 10 minutes later we saw a woman in civillian clothes talking to a fireman - she came over to us and said "Everyone make your way to the bar and the drinks are on the house!!!" Well we didn't need telling twice and made our way to the bar at Police HQ - where I can assure you we all imbibed on soft drinks only! (Honestly, would I a member of the Police staff lie to you!) Finally at 0100hrs we were let back into the building and back to work we went -no fire was found fortunately but it certainly livened up the night!

I had to work but it sounded great!!!!

A glimpse of the calls I deal with........

Card crooks dupe drivers - Cardholders at two petrol stations were targeted
Two petrol stations in Sussex are at the centre of an international credit card scam in which hundreds of thousands of pounds have been reported stolen from customers' bank accounts.
Thousands of people may have fallen victim to the sophisticated worldwide fraud after visiting the garages in Sussex. Police said the garages were also victims of the scam. More than 560 people have already reported that withdrawals averaging £300 have been made using their credit or debit card details.

The story above which featured in the local paper The Argus Brighton Hove & Sussex is something I have been taking many calls on at work - what started out as a trickle of calls escalated over a few weeks into many many calls per day - be wary where you use your cards and check your bank statements regularly!!!!
